Surf photography through a new lens
My photography explores the multi-dimensionality of surf culture where raw ocean power cross with serene wave riding. Action photography uses motion blur and black and white to convey exhilarating velocity and highlight the raw power of the water and athleticism of surfers. It also provides the contrast between beach and urban environments, a Gold Coast characteristic. But life on the surf is not all adrenaline; the series also covers its reflective, peaceful side: smooth glides and wave seeking. These are photographic homage shots, capturing the force of the sea and spiritual peace of surfing, supplemented with motion blur and black and white.
